House fire in Stratford prompts warning after firefighters impeded by crowd of onlookers

The cause of a house fire Friday night on Harvest Drive in Stratford remains under investigation.  The fire broke out after 9:00pm, and destroyed the home.  Fortunately there were no injuries reported.  The Cross Roads Fire Department responded and received assistance from the Charlottetown and Vernon River Fire Departments.  The fire was heavily involved when firefighters arrived on-scene, and firefighters were impeded by a large volume of traffic and onlookers, making it tougher for the first responders to get to the house.  Cross Roads Fire Chief Greg McCormick is reminding Islanders to keep their distance while firefighters respond to fires and other emergencies.
