The Native Council of PEI held a celebration of National Indigenous Peoples Day on Saturday at Confederation Landing in Charlottetown. Premier Rob Lantz marked National Indigenous Peoples Day by issuing a statement, saying it’s a day to recognize and celebrate the history, heritage, resilience and diversity of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. Lantz says the PEI Government is committed to helping advance initiatives and programs that support Indigenous communities across PEI and the path to reconciliation. He says it is an important time to reflect on the many contributions and achievements of Indigenous peoples in both PEI and Canada.
