The Provincial Government says $600-thousand is being invested in the Children’s Summer Food Program for this year to help feed hundreds of young Islanders. The Program is primarily intended for families currently receiving financial support through social assistance or assured income programs. Families not enrolled in those programs, but experiencing financial hardship, can complete a registration form to apply. The program was established in 2021 and delivers five nutritious frozen meals each week in July and August to children of families facing food insecurity. It also helps fill the gap left when school food programs pause for the summer.
