A second candidate has joined the race for the leadership of the Progressive Conservative Party of PEI. Lawyer and business leader Mark Ledwell of Keppoch has announced his candidacy, joining Montague-Kilmuir MLA Cory Deagle, a former cabinet minister, in the race. Ledwell has over 35 years of experience in infrastructure, energy, agri-food, finance and trade. Most recently he served as Managing Partner of Gowling WLG’s Toronto Office, and is the current Chair of the Holland College Foundation Board. Ledwell says he’s running because he’s concerned about the challenges faced by PEI due to the imposition of tariffs by President Trump, which he says continue to cause painful economic uncertainty for Islanders and Canadians.
