The Provincial Education Minister Robin Croucher announced this past week that CPR, defibrillator and Opioid Overdose Response Training will now be required learning as part of the student curriculum on PEI.
The announcement was made at Colonel Gray High School as the Province and the Advanced Coronary Treatment Foundation launched a lifesaving training Program that’s being made available to PEI’s intermediate and high school students. Teachers across the province are now trained to educate students on how to perform CPR, how to use an AED, and also how to recognize and respond to a suspected opioid overdose, including the use of nasal naloxone. To this point, more than 6 million students have been trained in CPR by their teachers across Canada.
