Monday is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
The day honours the children who never returned home and survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities.
Ceremonies are being held across the country, and here on PEI there will be an official ceremony of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on Monday at 11:30am in front of the Shaw Building at 95 Rochford Street in Charlottetown. Mi’kmaq leaders and Premier Dennis King will join together to observe a moment of silence and reflection at noon.
During the ceremony, the flags at the provincial building will be lowered as a mark of respect.
