The maximum Annual Allowable Rent Increase for 2025 has been set at 2.3% on all rental units, heated or unheated, including mobile home sites. The Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission says it’s effective January 1st of next year. But, landlords can apply to the commission for a further three per cent increase, meaning some landlords on PEI will be allowed to raise rents by as much as 5.3 per cent in 2025. A total of 57 submissions were received; including 21 from landlords and 35 from tenants. Landlords must provide proper notice to tenants and at least 3 months’ notice if there will be a rent increase.
