The PEI Nurses Union is suggesting there should be greater inclusion of Nurse Practitioners in PEI’s healthcare system.
The PEI Nurses’ Union, representing Nurse Practitioners in the province, says Nurse Practitioners are often an overlooked solution, and have the expertise to autonomously diagnose and treat illnesses, order, and interpret tests, prescribe medications,
and perform medical procedures.
The PEI Nurses’ Union says expanding the use of Nurse Practitioners’
skills throughout the healthcare system can help towards overcoming the current healthcare challenges in the province.
