Roll Em won the 55th Governor’s Plate at Red Shores in Summerside on Saturday, presented by Summerside Chrysler Dodge. The purse was $35,000. Driver Marc Campbell was in the bike, winning by 5 lengths with the mile in 1.51/4. Roll Em is owned by Brady Doyle and Savage Stable of Stratford, Brent Campbell of Charlottetown and Ryan MacLeod of Souris. Campbell had seven wins on the program and was top driver of Governor’s Plate Week.
The Toronto Blue Jays made it 8 wins in 9 games sweeping the Arizona Diamondbacks, 7-5. Danny Jansen had a pair of hits including a 3 run double in the 8th. Toronto had a nervous 9th as Mitch White walked three batters but Eric Swanson came on for the save. Toronto is 6 out of first behind slumping Tampa Bay.
The Rays lost 8-4 to Kansas City. Bobby Witt Jr. homered and had a 2 run triple.
Baltimore is just a game back, edging Miami, 5-4. Anthony Santander homered in the Orioles 3 run first inning.
Boston beat the Cubs in Chicago, 11-5. Masataka Yoshida had his second 6 RBI game including a grand slam.
Colorado scored three in the 11th to beat the Yankees, 8-7. New York and Boston tied for 4th in the AL East.
The Cardigan Clippers won 10-7 at home against the Morell Chevies in the Kings County Baseball League.
