Alex Iaffalo was the OT hero for the Kings as they beat the Edmonton Oilers 4-3 in Game 1 of their playoff series. Anze Kopitar of the Kings scored with 17 seconds left in the third period to tie the game at 3-all and force overtime.
The Boston Bruins beat the visiting Florida Panthers 3-1 in the opening game of their first-round series. David Pastrnak, Brad Marchand and Jake DeBrusk scored for the Bruins.
Sebastien Aho scored for one the Carolina Hurricanes edged the New York Islanders 2-1.
Ryan Hartman scored in the second overtime to give the Minnesota Wild a 3-2 win over Dallas in their Game 1.
The UPEI Track and Field team is welcoming Cornwall native Leah Campbell for the 2023–24 season. The 17-year-old sprinter at Bluefield High School holds two Prince Edward Island School Athletic Association records.
