People expecting to give birth from April 5 through 11 in Prince County are advised that Prince County Hospital will be without anesthesia coverage during that time.
The PCH obstetrical team will be present at the hospital for assessment and evaluation of those expecting to give birth.
When possible, deliveries will be diverted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for patient safety, due to the potential need for anesthesia. In these cases, transportation and supports will be arranged.
Patients may go directly to QEH on their own if desired and can safely do so.
Trauma patients who need services that require anesthesia will also be diverted to the QEH directly.
