Connor Keough was the hero as the Summerside Western Capitals went to double overtime to edge the Campbellton Tigers, 4-3 in Game 7 of their first round playoff series in the MHL.
Campbellton led three times during the game but Keough tied it up at 18.49 in the third and scored the deciding goal only 27 seconds into the second overtime.
The Caps will play Edmundston in the next round.
The Quebec Remparts opened the Q playoffs with a 4-0 shutout over the Charlottetown Islanders. Justin Robidas had a goal and two assists for the top team in the Q. William Rousseau made 13 saves in the nets in the dominant win for Quebec.
The Prince County Warriors improved to 2-1 with a 4-1 win over the Eastern Express in a battle of the Island teams at the Atlantic U15’s in O’Leary. Ayden MacKay scored three in a row for the Warriors. The Express is 1-2.
The Gulls were 11-2 winners over the Warriors earlier in the day.
The Eastern Hitmen of NL edged the Express, 5-4 in overtime.
The Charlottetown Knights evened their record at the U18s in Fredericton with a 5-2 win over the host Caps. Jonah MacDonald scored the game winner and had two assists. The Knights have two games today against the St. John’s Growlers and Moncton Flyers.
Pictou County Crushers shutout Mid Isle, 14-0 in the U13s. The Matrix fell to 0-2.
PEI’s Central Storm blanked the Western Phantoms from New Brunswick, 5-0 in the female U15s to even their record at 1-1. Halle Blanchard made 11 saves.
In the U18 female Atlantics PEI’s Eastern Stars shut out the Western Flames of Nova Scotia, 2-0. Olivia Lowe made 23 saves in the nets.
In the NHL, Calgary edged Vancouver, 5-4 on a controversial overtime goal scored by Tyler Tifoli.
Buffalo went to OT to get by the NY Rangers, 3-2. Jeff Skinner had the winner.
Winnipeg stopped Detroit, 6-2.
Dallas dropped Arizona, 5-2.
In the NBA, Philadelphia over the Toronto Raptors, 117-110. Scottie Barnes had 29 points for Toronto.
In baseball, Miami got by the Mets, 2-1.
Houston doubled the Chicago White Sox, 6-3.
Cleveland over Seattle, 9-4.

The Charlottetown Knights play the St. John’s Growlers this morning and the Moncton Flyers this afternoon in the Atlantic U18 hockey championship in Fredericton.
The Atlantic U15s continue in O’Leary.

The Charlottetown Islanders are in Quebec City for Game 2 of the Q playoffs. The Remparts are up 1-0.
The Sherwood Metros faceoff with the Vipers in Kensington at 7.30 in Game 3 of the PEI Jr. B finals. The series is tied, 1-1.
It’s the 40th anniversary of the opening of the Cornwall Curling Club today. The curling club began operation in 1982-83. A celebration will take place during the Red and Blue Bonspiel closing banquet at 1.00 this afternoon.
