The Canadian Red Cross says it’s distributed nearly 31-million dollars in donations received to help residents of Atlantic Canada and Quebec who were impacted by post tropical storm Fiona.
Spokesman Dan Beddell says the agency had given 500-dollar payments to more than 54-thousand households as of last Thursday.
He says that includes more than 26-thousand-500 households in Prince Edward Island, nearly 22-thousand in Nova Scotia, 317 in southwestern Newfoundland and 47 in New Brunswick and Quebec.
Beddel says nearly six-thousand households in PEI, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland received a second 500-dollar payment because of “exceptional or unique needs.”
