Around 11:15am on Thursday, Queens District RCMP responded to a 9-1-1 call of a stabbing at Bluefield High school in Hampshire. Queens District RCMP, the Major Crime Unit, Provincial Priority Unit, K-9 Unit and federal policing officers all responded to the scene. When they arrived, the school was in a “Shelter in Place” lockdown, and they found a 16-year old male victim who was suffering from knife wound injuries. Police determined that the suspect had left the scene and a search for the suspect expanded into the Charlottetown area. Shortly after 12pm, with assistance from Charlottetown Police and the Federal Policing Unit, a 17-year old male from Charlottetown male was arrested without incident for Aggravated Assault. The victim was taken to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The RCMP investigation into what happened is in its early stages, but they believe this to be an isolated incident and say there’s no further risk to the school at this time.
