PEI’s unemployment rate fell to 8.8% in August with over 70,000 people in the labour force.
Workforce Minister Sonny Gallant says that is a three-year low. He Tweets “We are growing our economy and workforce.”
PC MLA Steven Myers has also Tweeted that figures he has from August 6 to yesterday,September 9 that show a big difference in rural and urban employment.
He says Charlottetown has a 6.2% unemployment rate during that time.
But Myers unemployment for the rest of PEI including rural areas was 14.1 from early August to through the first full week of September.
