The fall lobster season is underway in the Northumberland Strait.
P-E-I Fishermen’s Association president Bobby Jenkins says fewer fishermen harvest lobster in the fall and that may help maintain prices.
But Jenkins’ optimism is tempered by a cautious outlook presented by the Lobster Council of Canada concerning the recent strengthening of the Canadian dollar.
The council says a higher dollar is putting pressure on Canadian lobster processors and live shippers to increase selling prices.
