UPDATE:
CFPEI ANNOUNCES NEW RESCHEDULED DATE FOR STAY-AT-HOME ONLINE GALA
NEW DATE – FRIDAY, MAY 1ST FROM 6:00-9:00 PM
Out of respect for the victims of the recent tragedy in NS, the Community Foundation of PEI has made the decision to reschedule the Stay-At-Home Gala until Friday, May 1st.
“We understand that a virtual vigil/memorial is being planned for Friday evening that would, at least in part, be scheduled at the same time as our Stay-At-Home Gala, so we wanted to make sure we showed respect by rescheduling our event”, said CFPEI President, Johnathan Ross. “This is a horrific tragedy and we want to be respectful of the mourning and grieving process for any and all involved”.
Anyone who is already registered for the original date is automatically registered for the new date on May 1st and have received an email regarding the change in schedule. Anyone who has not yet registered can visit www.cfpei.ca to register.
What better way to come together by staying apart than by hosting an online gala to celebrate all things PEI in a time of great need and uncertainty.
Join us for the first-ever PEI Stay-At-Home Online Gala, April 24th from 6:00-9:00pm. Uniting people from throughout PEI, this FREE ONLINE EVENT aims to celebrate Prince Edward Island! Social distancing at its finest, the first-of-its-kind event will host all the familiar elements: dinner (take-out, delivered or home-made by you), performances by musicians and entertainers, and special guest appearances from some well-known Island athletes and personalities.
While the event is completely free for everyone to enjoy, any donations to the Community Foundation of PEI will support the newly established COVID-19 Community Impact Fund which will direct funds back into the most in-need PEI charities during this time of need.
Even though the event is free, people must register in advance!
Lennie Gallant, Tara MacLean, Joey Kitson, Richard Wood and Ava & Lily Rashed have already been confirmed as performers! Special appearances have also been confirmed from Zack MacEwen, Ross Johnston, Adam McQuaid, Gerard “Turk” Gallant, Heather Moyse and Lorie Kane. The event will be hosted by none other than Kevin “Boomer” Gallant!
As the event continues to take shape, and as more entertainers and guests confirm their availability, additional information will be announced and shared via email and through the Foundation’s website and Facebook page.
And what would a gala be without some form of dining experience! To support the PEI restaurant industry, when reserving tickets online, people will have the opportunity of reserving a takeout or delivery meal from participating restaurants… or they can cook up their own meal at home! Participating restaurants will show their support for the cause by donating a percentage of their sales from the evening to the Foundation.
