The Charlottetown Islanders are on the road tonight in the NB Senior Baseball League as they visit Moncton to take on the Fisher Cats at 7:30.
Aaron Sanchez gets the start tonight as the Toronto Blue Jays continue their series against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. He’ll be up against lefty Drew Pomeranz. Sanchez only has a 1-and-3 record after spending most of the season on the disabled list. Pomeranz is 9-and-4.
Other match-ups see the Mariners in Houston to take on the Astros in a matinee game while Tampa also plays this afternoon in Oakland against the A’s. Nighttime games have Texas in Baltimore….and Kansas City hosts the Tigers.
The Grey Cup champion Ottawa Redblacks look for their first win of the season tonight as they host the Montreal Alouettes. Ottawa has stumbled out of the gate with three losses and a tie this year. Part of the problem is that the Redblacks have had to contend with a tough schedule, playing three games in 11 days, making preparation and rest for players difficult.
Curling Canada has announced a new title sponsor for the Road to the Roar Pre-Trials being held in Summerside in November. Home Hardware has signed on to the Nov 6 – 12th event at Credit Union Place. The pre-trials will determine the final two entries in each gender for the 2017 Tim Hortons Roar of the Rings , Dec. 2-10 in Ottawa. That s the event that will decide Canada s four-player teams for the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
