Ron Joyce, the co-founder of the Tim Hortons doughnut chain, has died at the age of 88 at his home in Burlington, Ontario.
Steven Joyce says in a statement on behalf of the family that he never forgot his humble beginnings in Tatamagouche, Nova Scotia.
He was born there amidst the Great Depression in 1930, with two siblings to follow.
The family moved to Westville, where his father struggled to find construction work due to the ripple effects of the Depression.
Joyce was no stranger to Prince Edward Island making many visits to the province over the years.
He and Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Tim Horton co-founded the chain in the mid 1960’s
