There’s a book out on Island NHL great Forbie Kennedy.
The book launch was held last night at PEI Brewing Company before a packed house.
The book “Forbie” was written by former Guardian managing editor, Gary MacDougall who was pleased to get a chance to write about the legend.
Naturally it took a lot of research and interviews with several former team mates and opponents.
Forbie himself can’t believe a book was written about him and considers it an honour.
He played the 50’s and 60’s when the NHL was just six teams and jobs were tight.
His career spanned from 1956 to 1969. Kennedy played or with part of all original six teams. His heyday was in Boston but he also played for Chicago, Detroit, Toronto and Philadelphia (an original Flyer).
He played junior in the Montreal Canadiens system but was traded to Chicago.
There were several special guests for the launch including Hockey Night In Canada’s Ron MacLean.
“Forbie” is available at the Bookmark in the Confederation Court Mall.
