The Green Party of PEI has released its proposed carbon pricing plan — which it says is revenue-neutral, and would tackle carbon emissions while helping low and middle-income Islanders get ahead.
Under the plan, all revenue collected would be returned to Islanders. Lower and middle-income households would receive a quarterly dividend cheque to offset the costs of a carbon price.
Small businesses, meanwhile, would see a 0.5% reduction of the small business tax rate. Those in the agricultural and fisheries sectors would remain eligible for exemptions regarding the use of marked fuels.
