Stratford has become a smoke-free community.
Town council has passed a bylaw banning smoking on all town properties that include parks, sports fields and trails, plus indoor buildings and trails or property used for town events.
Fines will range between $100 and $500 if charges are laid but Stratford CAO Robert Hughes says they will use education and reminders to begin.
If that fails, fines will be given out.
The policy began in 2007 but making it a bylaw makes a permanent law.
Mayor David Dunphy says the move has been made with health and wellness of all residents in mind.
