Progressive Conservative MLA Jamie Fox is calling on the MacLauchlan government to take immediate action to replace the Searletown Bridge on Route 10.
Last week, weight restrictions and a reduction to one lane were announced for the aging structure and Fox says that couldn’t come at a worse time for PEI’s farming and tourism industries.
He says Route 10 is an important route linking the Bedeque Region straight through to Tryon and sees significant traffic, including farm machinery and tourists.
Fox wants a full replacement as the existing structure has deteriorated too far to be repaired.
