A PEI Supreme Court Judge has dismissed the application by the Mi’kmaq Confederacy of PEI for a judicial review of the sale of Mill River Resort.
The Mi’kmaq Confederacy argued that in the province’s sale of the resort to Don McDougall in 2017, it did not meet legal requirements to consult First Nations on the sale of crown land.
But the Judge ruled he believed the province meet the requirements and engaged in meaningful consultations.
The Mi’kmaq say they are obviously disappointed with the ruling, and First Nation Councils will be reviewing the decision and will discuss possible next steps with their lawyers.
