NDP PEI Leader Joe Byrne says he’s not surprised by figures released last week that show wages on P.E.I. continue to be the lowest in the country.
Statistics Canada reported that the average weekly wage here in March was $840, compared with the national average of $997.
Byrne says it’s a myth that lower income doesn’t matter because the cost of Island living is cheaper than elsewhere. He says that literally thousands of Islanders cannot keep up with the cost-climb.
