Health Minister Robert Mitchell faced more questions in the legislature Thursday after this week’s mass resignation by the Health PEI Board of Directors. The resignations came after moves to change the governance of the health care system.
Those changes will see the Minister take on some of the powers that had been held by the board.
On Thursday, Mitchell said that the Board was proposing a cost-cutting plan had a plan to send people home from hospital early and close beds, which would have led to staff layoffs. He says he had no interest in following that direction.
