Maritime Electric says a power outage yesterday in eastern PEI was caused by thieves who stole copper from a substation.
The utility says about 12-thousand customers were without power for part of the day, with most reconnected by 6 p.m.
The utility says the copper, valued at a few hundred dollars, was stolen from the Lorne Valley substation.
Maritime Electric says its crews have found damage at other substations, and the RCMP have been called in.
