A system-wide computer glitch caused a shutdown of liquor stores across the Island on Saturday afternoon.
The PEI Liquor Control Commission says the system-wide error was beyond its control but the problem was resolved by 6.30 in the evening and liquor stores re-opened.
The technical issue caused some frustrations although Mel’s store in East Royalty and other seven other private owned agency stores that carry liquor were very busy.
There were long line-ups of vehicles along St. Peter’s Road by Mel’s on both sides of the highway.
Lots of comments of course on social media, some making jest of the situation.
The PEILCC did apologize on its Facebook page for the inconvenience.
