The Charlottetown Islanders snapped a two game losing streak with a 5-3 effort facing the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles to begin a weekend doubleheader in the Q. Defenseman P.O. Joseph scored twice including the winner on a power play late in the second period. Derek Gentile added a goal and assists. Casey Ton and Keith Getson had the others. Goalie Matt Welsh mad 37 saves.
The Eagles have lost five in a row.
The Islanders remain third in the Maritimes Division. They are 3 points back of second place Acadie-Bathurst and 9 points behind first place Halifax.

The UPEI men’s hockey Panthers are saving the best for last it appears. The Panthers dropped the last place Aigles Bleu, 4-1 in Moncton in the AUS. That’s three wins in their last four games and a 4 point lead on 6th place Dalhousie.
Rookie Kameron Keilly is third in the conference and 4th in the nation in scoring. He picked up 2 assists and has 34 points.
