The votes are in for the Three Rivers Plebiscite on amalgmation in the Montague and Georgetown area, and they show a resounding “no.”
After two days of polling for residents in unincorporated areas that would be affected, polls closed at 7pm Monday night.
The count shows that 1250 total votes were cast — 1174 voted “no” and 76 voted “yes.”
Amalgamation of the Three Rivers area has been looked at for a few years now and would include the communities of Brudenell, Cardigan, Lorne Valley, Lower Montague, Montague and Valleyfield. Georgetown voted to remove itself from the talks this past fall.
