The PEI Coalition for Women in Government says that after Wednesday’s cabinet shuffle, PEI remains last among the provinces with regard to the number and percentage of women in cabinet.
The current cabinet includes two women, among 11 cabinet positions…that’s 18 percent.
Coalition Executive Director Dawn Wilson says they’re pleased to see Ministers Paula Biggar and Tina Mundy retain their roles in cabinet, but are extremely disappointed that Kathleen Casey was not included among the new appointments.
Wilson says that given the under-representation of women in the Legislative Assembly, they see Wednesday’s shuffle as a missed opportunity to ensure the inclusion of women s voices and experiences at the cabinet table.
