The question is….how many will be brave enough to take a dip in the frozen Charlottetown Harbour today in the traditional PEI Polar Bear Swim?
The frigid plunge will take place at 10 this morning.
The Charlottetown Food Bank is the charity of choice for the event. You are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item that will be collected.
Cheryl Paynter is the chief organizer this year and she encourages all who plan to take jump into the harbour to wear some old sneakers to prevent injury to your feet on the rocks along the beach and the ice. Have a warm towel or house coat for when you come out of the water.
Also just go in…run around and come back.
The cold and the windchill will be a big factor today. It will be about -13 with a windchill of -22 at 10 when the event begins.
