A tough 4-3 shootout loss for Team Canada to the USA in outdoor game at the World Junior Hockey Championship in Buffalo.
Over 44,000 braved the cold and snow to witness the contest. Canada led 2-0 before the USA came back and tied in the 3rd on a goal by Brady Tkacuk. He also scored one of two goals for the Americans in the shootout.
Canada has two wins and a loss and plays Denmark tonight.

The Charlottetown Islanders keep on rolling. The Isles trimmed the Acadie-Bathurst Titan, 3-2 with P.O. Joseph scoring the deciding goal at 14.37 of the third.
Summerside’s Noah Dobson had an assist for the Titan. Charlottetown is 22-11-2 and in second place in the Maritimes Division of the Q and just a point back of Halifax.
Saint John got by Moncton, 4-3 in a shootout. Islander Jeremy McKenna with his 17th goal and an assist for the Wildcats.

Pownal teams were in 5 of the 6 championship games in the 13th George Trainor Holiday Classic for “A” division clubs and won four of them. Pownal won the Novice girls, 2-0 over North River and the Atom and Pee Wee boys. The Red Devils won the Bantam Division, 3-2 facing Sherwood.
Charlottetown won the Novice boys, 5-2 over Pownal.
Kensington took the Midget’s 8-5 facing Tyne Valley.

Ottawa squeezed by Columbus, 4-3 as Mark Stone and Bobby Ryan scored in the 3rd.

Both teams now head to Shawinigan, Quebec January 21-28 for the New Holland Canadian Juniors.
