M-V-P Kyle Schwarber went 3-for-3 in the first All-Star Game home run swing-off to put the National League ahead 4-3 following a 6-6 tie in which the American League rallied from a six-run deficit. The game was decided by having three batters from each league take three swings each off the pitching coaches.
The all-important post position draw was held Tuesday night for Saturday’s 57th running of the Governor’s Plate, presented by Summerside Chrysler Dodge. Roll Em drew the coveted rail position, while High Voltage Deo will leave from post position 2; Bounty Hunter goes from 3; Miki Shan N has the 4 spot; Twin B Tuffenuff goes from 5; Tony Too Tall in 6; Blood Money 7; and Middletown Terror drew the 8 position.
Governor’s Plate Week racing continues Wednesday night at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway with a pair of rich Gold divisions of the PEI Colt Stakes for rookie pacing colts. The 13-dash card has a 6 P.M. opening post time.
