The province says a program implemented a year ago has seen 116 housing units purchased from the private rental market in an effort to have them stay affordable.
Through the Community Housing Expansion Pilot program, the province is providing annual funding for up to three years to the Canadian Mental Health Association – PEI Division, Co-operative Housing Federation of Canada, and Kings Square Non-Profit Housing Corporation.
The program is to support the three organizations in purchasing existing housing and planning construction for new units.
