The provincial government says that in the first year of the Community Housing Expansion Pilot program, a total of 116 housing units have been purchased from the private rental market with an eye on keeping them affordable. Through the program, the province is providing annual funding for up to three years to the Canadian Mental Health Association – PEI Division, Co-operative Housing Federation of Canada, and Kings Square Non-Profit Housing Corporation.
The program is aimed at supporting the three organizations in purchasing existing housing and planning construction for new units.
