Canada’s inflation rate rose to 1.9 per cent in June, up from 1.7 per cent the previous month. Statistics Canada says prices at the pump were nearly unchanged, but consumers paid more for vehicles and furniture, but did get a bit of relief from lower inflation on food and shelter costs. On a yearly basis, prices rose at a faster pace in eight provinces, including PEI. PEI’s inflation rate in June was 0.8 percent, up from 0.7 percent in May.
