Canada is backing off its digital services tax and will resume trade negotiations with the United States.
The announcement came following a phone call between Prime Minister Mark Carney and U-S President Donald Trump, just hours before the first payment under the tax was due.
The levy would have collected three per cent from companies like Amazon, Google, and Air-b-n-b on money paid to them by Canadian users.
Trump terminated trade negotiations over Ottawa’s plan to tax big tech in a social media post on Friday.
