P-E-I has identified 10 infants too young for vaccination who will require medication to protect them against measles. The Chief Public Health Office had earlier announced there were two cases of measles, with the people involved having been in public places while contagious.Dr. Heather Morrison said yesterday that the infants will need intravenous immunoglobulin to prevent an infection or reduce the severity if one develops. While most people on the island are protected from measles because of their age or vaccination status, children under one year old are at high risk because they have not yet been fully vaccinated against the measles.
