The former Commander of the Canadian Army says it’s about time that political Ottawa is finally paying attention to defence and hiking military pay.
Andrew Leslie is pointing to a promise by the defence minister to boost Canadian Armed Forces pay by 20 per cent as long overdue.
He says the government has not shown a lot of love for the military in the last 10 years and there’s a lot that needs to be addressed with a pay bump.
Experts are warning, however, that the devil will be in the details, as the defence minister’s office has not yet detailed how the new military pay increase will roll out.
