Trade movement deals at the Group of Seven summit in Alberta were overshadowed Monday by escalating violence in the Middle East.
U-S President Donald Trump announced late in the day he’d be leaving the leaders’ summit early because of the crisis in Israel and Iran.
Trump told other G-7 leaders before their working dinner that he had to go back, noting it was very important and that he wished he could stay for Tuesday’s meetings.
Dozens of airports in the Middle East have stopped all flights or have severely reduced operations, leaving tens of thousands of passengers stranded and others unable to flee the conflict between Israel and Iran. Israel launched a major attack on Iran on Friday that has led to attacks between the bitter enemies and opened a new chapter in their turbulent recent history.
