Premier Rob Lantz took to social media on Wednesday to announce that, after much consideration, he has decided against seeking the permanent leadership of the Progressive Conservative Party of PEI. Lantz was named the Party’s Interim Leader and then Premier after Premier and PC Leader Dennis King announced his resignation in February. In his statement issued Wednesday, Lantz says that since accepting the role as Interim PC Leader and Premier he’s had many Islanders and supporters approach him about seeking the permanent leadership of the party. But he says the best decision for Islanders and the PC Party is to continue in his role as interim leader until the party selects a new permanent leader. Lantz says the province needs someone focused on the day-to-day job of governing, with a seat at the national table.
