A dramatic rescue in Summerside early Tuesday morning. Fire broke out shortly before 3:00am in a home at Linkletter Estates mobile home park.
When police arrived, the front of the home was engulfed in flames but they were able to force a side door open and help the family get out of the home. But there was still a small child inside and a Summerside Police officer went into the burning home and found the 1-year-old child in a crib in one of the bedrooms. The officer was able to get the child and turn him over to his father.
The family members were examined by Island E-M-S on-scene, while the police officer that entered the home and a firefighter were taken to hospital for treatment and later released.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
