Canada’s unions are calling for immediate government action to protect workers after US President Donald Trump announced steel and aluminum tariffs would be doubled to 50 per cent on Wednesday. The president of the Canadian Labour Congress says the government must be prepared to stand up for Canadian industries, invest in good union jobs, and protect economic sovereignty in the face of growing international uncertainty. The Industry Minister says she will be meeting with steel and aluminum producers and workers to advance a plan.
