The Provincial Transportation Department says the end of this month is when everyone has to have studded winter tires removed from their vehicle. It reminds everyone that the season for studded tires goes from October 1st until May 31st each year. The department says extended use of the studs can damage highway markings and create ruts that collect water. Drivers could face fines of up to 150 dollars if they use studded tires out of season.
