In a letter distributed to families on Friday, the Public Schools Branch said a senior employee is no longer with the PSB after the discovery of new information in the case of former substitute teacher Matthew Craswell. Craswell has pleaded guilty to sexual interference in connection with an incident in April 2024 in which he touched a young female student in a classroom at Glen Stewart Primary School. To this point, the Public Schools Branch has said that no one dealing with the April 2024 complaint was aware of a similar allegation regarding an incident at a Charlottetown school in June 2023. However, in Friday’s letter to families, Public Schools Branch Director Tracy Beaulieu said that new information was uncovered this week indicating that a senior employee at the PSB, who participated in the investigation of the April 2024 complaint, was aware of the June 2023 incident. Beaulieu says that as a result of the new information, that individual is no longer employed at the Public Schools Branch.
