The Winnipeg Jets stave of elimination with a dominant 4-0 win over the Dallas Stars in Game 5 of their second-round series. The Stars now lead the series 3-2 with Game 6 set for Saturday in Dallas.
Andrei Svechnikov scored the go-ahead goal with just under two minutes left to help the Carolina Hurricanes beat the Washington Capitals 3-1 and book their ticket to the Eastern Conference final. Carolina will play the winner of the second-round series between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Florida Panthers. Florida leads 3-2 with Game 6 Friday night in Florida.
The Rimouski Oceanic beat the Moncton Wildcats 5-1 last night in Gam #4 of the QMJHL Final. The Wildcats lead the series 3-1.
Buckhead Ridge won Thursday night’s trotting feature at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park in 1:56.4 for driver Gilles Barrieau, trainer Landon Campbell, and owner Brady Doyle of Stratford. Live racing continues Saturday at 6 P.M., at Red Shores Charlottetown while Red Shores Summerside holds their season opener on Victoria Day Monday at 1 P.M.
