Prime Minister Mark Carney’s government will not table a budget when Parliament returns in the coming weeks. Finance Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne says the Liberals instead plan to put forward a fall economic statement. But he didn’t give a clear timeline for the introduction of the government’s latest fiscal plan. Champagne says the government will quickly present a ways-and-means motion to introduce a tax cut that the Liberals promised during the recent election by July 1st.
