ICU at Price County Hospital to reopen this summer

With the budget tabled Thursday, it was announced that improved staff numbers will mean the intensive care unit at Prince County Hospital will reopen this summer.   Finance Minister Jill Burridge, in her budget address, spoke of the return of full-time internal medicine coverage at Prince County Hospital, allowing their ICU to formally reopen this summer.  The eight-bed intensive-care unit at the hospital in Summerside was shut down in May of 2023 because of a shortage of specialized staff.
