A brief return to service Wednesday for the MV Confederation with Northumberland Ferries. After about 10 weeks of repairs, the vessel was put back in service with the 10am crossing Wednesday from Wood Islands. But after the return trip from Caribou, mechanical issues were discovered and the ferry company had to cancel the remainder of the crossings on Wednesday. Before the mechanical issues surfaced, Northumberland Ferries said on Wednesday that the MV Confederation would operate with 4 round-trips daily until the end of the season on December 20th. On Wednesday night, Northumberland Ferries said that the technical problems on the MV Confederation have been resolved, but because of the weather forecast, all crossings from Wood Islands and Caribou have been cancelled for today.
